Research Lines and Projects
CIRUS research lines arise from clinically relevant questions and are developed through literature reviews, observational analysis, evidence synthesis, educational tools and critical appraisal of outcomes.
Priority areas
- Minimally invasive thoracic surgery: uniportal access, operative-field geometry and comparison with multiportal approaches.
- Pleural disease: empyema, pleural drainage, surgical escalation and pulmonary decortication.
- Thoracic trauma: rib fractures, surgical stabilization and clinical outcomes.
- Thoracic oncology: pulmonary nodules, risk assessment, diagnosis and decision-making.
- Education and innovation: simulation, three-dimensional visualization and digital tools for surgical training.
Our approach
We prioritize clinically useful questions, define methods in advance, distinguish observed results from interpretation and document limitations. Patient-facing materials are kept separate from scientific analyses and do not replace medical evaluation.
